FORMER senior aircraftman David Bilsby was jailed for 16 months after starting a fire in his Weston-super-Mare hostel room.
Bilsby, 59, had argued with a fellow resident at the premises in Ashcombe Road, Bristol Crown Court heard.
Residents who smelled smoke kicked his door in and found a chair on fire and him unconscious.
Bilsby pleaded guilty to arson.
The court heard that while serving in the RAF Bilsby worked on Vulcan bomber and Lightning fighter aircraft. But after a marriage split and amphetamine addiction, he ended up on his own.
