I'd stand for mayor, says businessman

A FORMER city councillor has announced he wants to become Bristol's first elected mayor.

Abdul Malik, above, 38, of Easton, said he was convinced an elected mayor was a golden opportunity for the city to achieve its aspirations. The businessman will seek to stand as the Liberal Democrat candidate if people vote to bring in the new position next week.
