WINTERBOURNE United and Highridge United will meet in the final of the League Plate after both went through with exciting semi- final victories.
Matt Smith's strike from a corner was not enough to prevent Downend Wanderers slipping to a 3-1 defeat against a strong and determined Winterbourne side, while Highridge squeezed through with a remarkable 6-5 extra-time success against FC Lakeside.
Rhys Hickery almost won it singlehandedly for Highridge at Dowty Staverton, scoring five of his team's goals, two of them in extra-time, while Joe Brimble netted their other goal late on in normal time to dramatically tie up the scores at 4-4.
In Bristol North, Thornbury Town's defence of star performer Billy Plummer, Ryan Clifford, Nathan Shutler and Matt Sullivan stood firm as their team secured a battling point from a goalless draw at home to Bristol Athletic.
Brad Jenkins, Dom Richards and Calum Davies-Smith controlled central midfield early on, setting up two chances for Luke Jones, who failed to convert them.
Jenkins went close to winning it for Town when his late free-kick forced a good save from the Athletic keeper.
Luke Cox struck twice as Henbury Colts came out on top with a 3-0 victory in their local derby with Shire Colts in Bristol South.
Henbury lost their top scorer Tony Evans on ten minutes with a broken nose following a collision with his strike partner Jack Fiddes. However, they snatched the lead on 12 minutes when Cox's 25-yard drive deceived Shire keeper Ben Caker and went 2-0 up when Cox scored again direct from a corner.
Fiddes and Dean Rutter both missed chances for Henbury, while Max Dolton and Raphy Johnson looked dangerous on the break for Shire. But Henbury's back-four held firm and Rutter netted from close range to complete the scoring 15 minutes into the second half.
