Bristol City will not consider selling star winger Albert Adomah for a penny less than £3million.
The 24-year-old Ghana international is being targeted by Swansea City and the Premier League outfit are preparing to table a bid, believed to be in the region of £2m.
Swans chief Huw Jenkins has already been in contact with in-coming City chairman Keith Dawe, who is set to take over from Colin Sexstone next Thursday.
Although the Welsh club has yet to make a formal bid, Jenkins and Dawe have discussed the possibility of Adomah moving to the Liberty Stadium this summer.
There will be no further talks until Dawe returns from holiday in the United States later this month, but City are determined not to allow one of their best players to leave on the cheap.
One of the most consistent wingers in the Championship since joining City from League Two Barnet in 2010, Adomah has two years remaining on his contract and The Daily Press understands City value him at a minimum of £3million.
Swansea boss Brendan Rodgers has turned his attention to Adomah after failing in a bid to lure Blackpool starlet Matt Phillips.
Rodgers has made it clear he wants to do his transfer business in the early part of this summer as he plots to build on an excellent mid-table finish in their Premier League debut.
He has already made inroads on potential deals for Wales defender Chris Gunter while being linked with moves for Burnley midfielder Chris McCann and Blackpool forward Phillips.
But it is believed Swansea have been told they have little chance of luring Phillips away from Bloomfield Road, despite Blackpool's failure to win a return to the top flight via the play-offs.
Swansea are understood to have offered the Seasiders cash plus striker Stephen Dobbie and could now test City's resolve with a similar package,
Given that a large percentage of Rodgers' transfer budget is likely to be lavished on a permanent deal for Icelandic star Gylfi Sigurdsson, he will thereafter look to supplement his squad with a number of players in the £2-£3m bracket.
Adomah would come within Swansea's budget and the winger would tick the boxes of the type of player the club are keen on.
City manager Derek McInnes rates Adomah highly and will fight hard to keep the Londoner at Ashton Gate.
Not surprisingly, given the departure of eight players last month and City's need to rebuild, McInnes has been linked with an array of players, both in the media and on various internet forums.
McInnes dismissed out of hand a report linking him with out-of-contract Hartlepool midfielder Gary Liddle.
Rumours linking the Championship club with a move for Bristol Rovers winger Mustapha Carayol are similarly without foundation.
City's manager did run the rule over Cheltenham Town midfielder Marlon Pack towards the end of the season, but decided not to further his interest.
